Brimfield Seniors Young At Heart Club
Minutes of the Board Meeting: Friday, December 11, 2015
Attending:​ Steve Amato, Marie Amato, Sue Fields. Annette Heiser, Linda Jones, Barb Rickenbacker, Link
Rickenbacker, Don Swauger, Margaret Swauger
The meeting was called to order at 11:50 a.m. at the Brimfield McDonalds by President Marie Amato. The
Board members met earlier in the morning to help pack the 650 gift bags for the Senior Holiday Breakfasts
sponsored by the Brimfield Police Department to be held on December 15 & 16. Board Members were able to
add a flyer with information about BSYAH Club in the gift bags. Minutes of the last meeting were read by
Secretary Barb Rickenbacker and were approved as read. Motion: M. Swauger, Second: S. Amato, Motion
Carried.
Treasurer’s Report: ​Linda Jones reported a cost of $20.83 for checks leaving a balance of $153.36. ​Motion to
accept the Treasurer’s Report: A. Heiser; Second: B.Rickenbacker; Motion carried.
Vice President’s Report: ​Steve is actively reviewing options for lining up trips and excursions for the Club.
However, the Board would like to recruit an Activities Coordinator to fill the Board position before future
plans can be made. Sue Fields offered to contact Patty Harjing to see if she can suggest anyone who may be
interested in the position.
Old Business: ​Member at Large, Sue Fields, designed and provided 100 Club Membership forms that will be
available for the Senior Breakfasts and the first BSYAH Club general meeting on February 12, 2015. Annette
Heiser will contact the police department to see if she or another Board Member could make a short
announcement at the two breakfasts to get membership started. ​Marie ​thanked Sue for her work on the
forms.
Membership Cards: Discussion continued on how members would be identified year-to- year. A motion was
made by Sue Fields to have a new membership card issued each year. The format of the card to include:
The name of the Club, Name of the member followed by “is a charter member for the year of _________.
Link Rickenbacker, seconded. Motion carried. Sue has offered to format the membership cards and to have
150 of them printed and ready for the February 12, 2016 meeting.
Webpage: Marie has set up a web site for the Club and it has been connected to BrimfieldOhio.gov. The web
pages can be located under the “Community Organizations” tab and then under “Senior Clubs”. She will
continue to refine the site and additions will be made to the calendar page as the Club grows and adds
activities.

Plans for the first general meeting of the Brimfield Seniors Young At Heart Club to be held on February 12,
2016 at the Kelso House were discussed. A valentines theme was suggested. Nametags for all participants will
be used. Margaret offered to make nametags for Board Members. Refreshments: Sue will have 4 doz. sugar
free cookies and some unsweetened tea, Marie will pick up 8 doz. regular cookies, Margaret will provide
punch.
Looking ahead to a March meeting, it was suggested contacting Judy Allen, Curator of Kelso house to do a
short presentation.

TheBoard members met earlier in the morning to help pack the 650 gift bags for the Senior Holiday Breakfastssponsored by the Brimfield Police Department to be held on December 15 & 16. Board Members were able toadd a flyer with information about BSYAH Club in the gift bags. Minutes of the last meeting were read bySecretary Barb Rickenbacker and were approved as read. Motion: M. Swauger, Second: S. Amato, MotionCarried.Treasurer’s Report: ​Linda Jones reported a cost of $20.83 for checks leaving a balance of $153.36. ​Motion toaccept the Treasurer’s Report: A. Heiser; Second: B.Rickenbacker; Motion carried.Vice President’s Report: ​Steve is actively reviewing options for lining up trips and excursions for the Club.However, the Board would like to recruit an Activities Coordinator to fill the Board position before futureplans can be made.
